This verse is against divorce, not polygamy. Ironically we have lots of divorce and very little polygamy in our culture. It says nothing against a man who marries a woman and keeps her, and then married another woman. In fact I think one could...

What does it mean to be "faithful"? The true answer to that, I think, is your answer.

No. It says Joash did. But what did Joash do? Well the main thing that it said he did was take two wives from Jehoiada. If taking two wives was a sin, then Joash sinned by taking them. But the Bible clearly said that he did not sin. Ergo...

It's not hard to formulate an answer to twisting. A paraphrase suffices, to "II Chron. 24:1-3: "It doesn't say what I SAY HE SHOULD NOT HAVE SAID" is not 'exegesis.' It's perfidy. Further. Just being a licensed False Teacher...

One modification/suggestion: It's actually worse. A genuine "legislator" should be bound by the constitution. (By oath, in the USA. Yes, they lie, but that makes them liars, not legislators.) A pastor who claims "thus spoke YHVH," when He...

Yes, quite a gem. Thanks for the link. I agree with her conclusion, it's the government which has replaced the husband.

Same NIV really self destructed. I have been using the NKJV lately. Seems OK.

That is why the NIV and NLT are towards the bottom of my list.👍 They are more paraphrased than I am comfortable using. As a child, and young man, I was largely raised on the NIV. Moving to the more "word for word" NASB and ESV was very helpful.

Fall on your knees and praise God that he has blessed you with insight that even a giant like John MacArthur failed to perceive. God is good.

You also have to be very careful when using new translation Bibles because some of them has changed words completely opposite of their true meaning, I came to the knowledge of this after using different Bibles to help me understand the kjv Bible...

Mr. MacArthur and his entire ministry is highly regarded in our household. But, he wasn’t infallible. My wife and I listened to one of his sermons once regarding Lot, Sodom and Gomorrah. When he began to list the sins of Sodom, he somehow weaved...

It just occurred to me that even the Legacy Standard Bible doesn't give the translation as he suggests. It reads, “If a man has two wives, the one loved and the other unloved, and both the loved and the unloved have borne him sons, if the...

I tried to figure out how he could claim that it was originally rendered as " has had two wives" . I could not figure out how to torture the words into that kind of a translation. If I believed in MO, I would then like to believe that Moses...

That is a very beautiful thing, all marriages will last once God is in it, hope to be able to say the same or something like you one day.
