It's hard to find complete theological agreement on everything with anyone.
I agree with the people at my church on almost everything, though we would differ on polygyny and patriarchy (they are complementarian).

But I’m guilty of laziness on a lot of issues, especially those that don’t pertain to my everyday life. Polygyny doesn’t apply to most folks and their lives. Unless it’s a family member or very close friend that is involved in it, I don’t know...

Are we getting lost in translation? My reading of scripture says, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Others will say "Don't lie".

I hear you....but most are not of a mindset to "prove all things" if this is one of them. That is why it really seems they prefer to be ignorant, and cling to the opinion they already have.
