Fun Poly Parody

In that day seven women
will take hold of one man and say,
“We will eat our own bread
and provide our own clothes.
Just let us be called by your name.

Take away our disgrace!”

Isaiah 4:1

Oh boy! Jack Hibbs has butchered this passage!
He left out the word "Seven" and he claims that they are just asking the man to father a child in order to take away her reproach. I would think his comments section needs to address this!

Oops! I didn't get to that point in the video.
The reproach is not filling the purpose that YHWH created woman for. Children are part of that, but that man pretending to teach is a double minded....confused and lost...when he claimed that the women can remove reproach by the sin of "sharing" a husband.

He just proved the verse...Let YHWH be true and every man a liar. He may be a well intentiontioned liar....

...but sins are defined by YHWH and THAT is NOT one of them!!

I totally believe that the reproach is in not having a husband. Being headless.

It could also refer to childlessness. We se that when Elizabeth says that God has taken away her reproach/disgrace. So the women not only want the man to let them be called by his name, but they want him to impregnate them. The fact that they want to be called by his namer though, suggests that they do want this to happen within the confines of marriage.

Just because a woman felt shame due to her childlessness doesn’t prove that this is the same shame.
A woman can be childless because of a physical reason, even her husband’s physical problem, and it should not be a shame before Yah. No one should be guilty of shaming someone who doesn’t have a choice in the matter.

Besides, we’ve got millions of single mothers. There is no shame in that?

I see millions of single mothers, yes. But, are they doing it right?

I quote!
The reproach is not filling the purpose that YHWH created woman for.

Single mothers are doing part of it but not correctly.
Married wives using contraception are doing part of it but not correctly.

And when I first married my wife, I insisted on this idiocy of using contraception for the first handful of years together. I have learned how foolish that was and now regret it.

I have known many. One though that comes to mind, was raped, so no shame on her part, albeit a lack of judgment in character (it was her boyfriend and he did it a second time), but then again, would she have even been with him if it weren't for the whole monogamy lie? The lovely woman I am married to, found out that one of her boyfriends had planned to do that to her, and I don't see any shame on her part for having had him as a boyfriend. He was a fellow Bible college student. Go figure!

No, they aren’t doing anything correctly.
The shame is in not being under headship.
well, I am not going to disagree with you. Looking at my statement without the other to go with it, it seems wrong to me as well. I was trying to make a joint statement but, perhaps I should have worded that better. :-)

He still refers to the 7 wanting the 1 man as sin. That's not exactly getting it right.
Some people have the knowledge of God but haven't yet been born again so they still have some of the world teaching inside of them, and you can't see the fullness of God true light if you haven't been born again.

Poor Jack Hibbs. He is just not much of a scholar. I don’t like his teaching much, not just over this passage. Not much respect from me. Nice chap, but not a super serious guy.

The converse is not necessarily true. I know QUITE a few folks who claim to have been 'born again' that I wouldn't trust to define the meaning of "thou shalt not kill," even.

The shame is in not being under headship.
The problem with the young lady I was referring to, was that her boyfriend was Mormon. IOW, she was seeking the wrong headship.
